Sabbath In Scripture

Sabbath in Old Testament

Our Heavenly Father blessed THE 7th day and made IT holy. – This indicates it’s a specific day He blessed and it is holy – Strongs says that it means He set it apart.

Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV) By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Genesis 2:2-3 (KJV) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Genesis 2:2-3 (Cepher) And on the seventh day Elohiym ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And Elohiym blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohiym created and made.

Israelites tested on whether or not they would keep the Sabbath

Exodus 16:4-5 (NIV) Then said the Lord to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on other days.”

Exodus 16:4-5 (KJV) Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

Exodus 16:4-5 (Cepher) Then said Yahuah unto Mosheh: Behold, I will rain bread from the heavens for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my Torah, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

Heavenly Father has given us THE Sabbath

Exodus 16:27-30 (NIV) Nevertheless, some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather it, but they found none. Then the Lord said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep my commands and my instructions? Bear in mind that the Lord has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where they are on the seventh day; an no one is to go out. So the people rested on the seventh day.

Exodus 16:27-30 (KJV) And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And the Lord said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the Lord hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day.

Exodus 16:27-30 (Cepher) And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: How long refuse ye to guard my commandments and my Torah? See for that Yahuah has given you the Shabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day.

10 commandments “Remember” the Sabbath and keep it holy. THE 7th day is a Sabbath

Exodus 20:8-11 (NIV) “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Exodus 20:8-11 (Cepher) Remember the day of the Shabbath, to keep it holy. Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: But the seventh day is the Shabbath of Yahuah Elohayka: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your strange that is within your gates: For in six days Yahuah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahuah blessed the day of Shabbath, and hallowed it.

The Sabbath is a sign between our Father and us for generations to come so we know it’s the Lord who makes us holy

Exodus 31:12-13 (NIV) Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.

Exodus 31:12-13 (KJV) And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.

Exodus 31:12-13 (Cepher) And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: Speak also unto the children of Yashar’el, saying: Truly my Shabbaths ye shall guard; for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Yahuah Meqoddishkem.

The Sabbath is a lasting covenant – “LASTING”

Exodus 31:16 (NIV) The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant.

Exodus 31:16 (KJV) Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

Exodus 31:16 (Cepher) Wherefore the children of Yashar’el shall guard the Shabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

It will be a sign between us and our Heavenly Father FOREVER! – “FOREVER” meaning it will never go away

Exodus 31:17 (NIV) It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”

Exodus 31:17 (KJV) It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

Exodus 31:17 (Cepher) It is a sign between me and the children of Yashar’el forever: for in six days Yahuah made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

Our Heavenly Father again specifies to obey His Sabbath

Leviticus 19:3 (NIV)“‘Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 19:3 (KJV) Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 19:3 (Cepher) Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and guard my Shabbaths: I am Yahuah Elohaykem

This is in reference to obeying all Sabbaths including His special Sabbaths

Leviticus 19:30 (NIV) “‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:30 (KJV) Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.

Leviticus 19:30 (Cepher) Ye shall guard my Shabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Yahuah.

“Do not live according to the the customs of man” – do not change our Father’s Sabbath day to what a man says.

Leviticus 20:23 (NIV) You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them.

Leviticus 20:23 (KJV) And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

Leviticus 20:23 (Cepher) And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

Explains the Sabbath is an appointed festival

Leviticus 23:3 (NIV) “‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.

Leviticus 23:3 (KJV) Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

Leviticus 23:3 (Cepher) Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Shabbath of rest, a holy assembly; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Shabbath of Yahuah in all your dwellings.

Our Heavenly Father will send his people rain if they obey the Sabbath and laws

Leviticus 26:2-5 (NIV) “‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord“‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.

Leviticus 26:2-5 (KJV) Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord. If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

Leviticus 26:2-5 (Cepher) Ye shall guard my Shabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Yahuah. If ye walk in my statues, and guard my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

The Sabbath is so important to our Heavenly Father that they stoned and killed a man for working

Numbers 15:32-36 (NIV) While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.” So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Numbers 15:32-36 (KJV) And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses.

Numbers 15:32-36 (Cepher) And while the children of Yashar’el were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the Sabbath. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto El”Mosheh and El”Aharon, and unto all the assembly. And they put him in ward because it was not declared what should be done to him. And Yahuah said unto Mosheh: The man shall be surely put to death: all the assembly shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the assembly brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as Yahuah commanded Mosheh.

Do not add to or take away from His commands

Deuteronomy 12:32 (NIV) See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

Deuteronomy 12:32 (KJV) What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Deuteronomy 12:32 (Cepher) What thing soever I command you, guard to do it: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Do not embrace pagan customs – Sunday Sabbath is a pagan custom. A quick google search will prove this.

Isaiah 2:6 (NIV) You, Lord, have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and embrace pagan customs.

Isaiah 2:6 (KJV) Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Isaiah 2:6 (Cepher) Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Ya`aqov, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Pelishtiym, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Do NOT trust in humans – humans changed the Sabbath day to the 1st day of the week.

Isaiah 2:22 (NIV) Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?

Isaiah 2:22 (KJV) Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?

Isaiah 2:22 (Cepher) Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for when in is he to be accounted of?

Worship is based on human rules they have been taught – We have been doing things (Sunday worship instead of the Sabbath) according to human traditions and the rules of the “church”

Isaiah 29:13 (NIV) The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

Isaiah 29:13 (KJV) Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Isaiah 29:13 (Cepher) Wherefore Adonai said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Blessed is the one who keeps His sabbath without desecrating it

Isaiah 56:2 (NIV) Blessed is the one who does this— the person who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps their hands from doing any evil.”

Isaiah 56:2 (KJV) Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

Isaiah 56:2 (Cepher) Blessed is the man that does this, and the son of A’dam that lays hold on it; that guards the Shabbath from polluting it and guards his hand from doing any evil.

Even foreigners and Eunuchs who keep the Sabbath can be His people. Those who keep His sabbath will be brought to His holy mountain – FUTURE

Isaiah 56:3-7 (NIV) Let no foreigner who is bound to the Lord say, “The Lord will surely exclude me from his people.” And let no eunuch complain, “I am only a dry tree.” For this is what the Lord says: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases me and hold fast to my covenant— to them I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will endure forever. And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Isaiah 56:3-7 (KJV) Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

Isaiah 56:3-7 (Cepher) Neither let the son of the stranger that has joined himself to El”Yahuah, speak saying: Yahuah has utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say: Behold I am a dry tree. For thus says Yahuah unto the eunuchs that guard my Shabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in my house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them and everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the stranger that join themselves to Yahuah, to serve him, and to love the name of Yahuah, to be his servants, everyone that guards the Shabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful my house of prayer: their ascending smoke offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.

For those that keep His Sabbath will feast on the inheritance of our father Jacob – FUTURE

Isaiah 58:13-14 (NIV) “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Isaiah 58:13-14 (KJV) If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Isaiah 58:13-14 (Cepher) If you turn away your foot from the Shabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Shabbath a delight, the holy of Yahuah, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Then shall you delight yourself in Yahuah; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Ya’aqov your father: for the mouth of Yahuah has spoken it.

From one Sabbath to another we will bow down before our Adonai. This is in reference to when our Savior returns and we will worship Him in the Sabbath. – FUTURE – We will ALWAYS keep the Sabbath

Isaiah 66:22-24 (NIV) As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord. “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

Isaiah 66:22-24 (KJV) For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Isaiah 66:22-24 (Cepher) For as the renewed heavens and the renewed earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says Yahuah, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from New Moon to his New Moon, and from Shabbath to his Shabbath, shall all flesh come to worship before me, says Yahuah. And they shall go forth and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

What would happen if they kept Sabbath and what would happen if they didn’t.

Jeremiah 17:21-27 (NIV) This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors. Yet they did not listen or pay attention; they were stiff-necked and would not listen or respond to discipline. But if you are careful to obey me, declares the Lord, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy by not doing any work on it, then kings who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this city with their officials. They and their officials will come riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by the men of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever. People will come from the towns of Judah and the villages around Jerusalem, from the territory of Benjamin and the western foothills, from the hill country and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing thank offerings to the house of the Lord. But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.’”

Jeremiah 17:21-27 (KJV) Thus saith the Lord; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the Lord, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever. And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the Lord. But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

Jeremiah 17:21-27 (Cepher) Thus says Yahuah; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Shabbath, nor bring it in by the gates of Yerushalayim; Neither carry forth a burden on the Shabbath, nor bring it in by the gates or Yerushalayim; Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Shabbath, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the day of Shabbath, as I commanded your fathers. But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, says Yahuah, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Shabbath, but hallow the day of Shabbath, to do no work therein; Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Yahudah, and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim: and this city shall remain forever. And they shall come from the cities of Yahudah, and from the places about Yerushalayim, and from the land of Binyamiyn, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the Negev, bringing ascending smoke offerings, and sacrifices, and oblations, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of Yahuah. But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the day of Shabbath, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Yerushalayim on the Shabbath; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Yerushalayim, and it shall not be quenched.

They conformed to the standards around them – Not keeping our Heavenly Father’s ways

Ezekiel 11:12 (NIV) And you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.”

Ezekiel 11:12 (KJV) And ye shall know that I am the Lord: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.

Ezekiel 11:12 (Cepher) And ye shall know that I am Yahuah: for ye have not walked in my statutes neither executed my judgements, but have done after the manners  of the heathen that are round about you.

Sabbath is a sign between us and our Heavenly Father.

Ezekiel 20:11-12 (NIV) I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live. Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the Lord made them holy.

Ezekiel 20:11-12 (KJV) And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.

Ezekiel 20:11-12 (Cepher) And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgements, which if a man does, he shall even live in them. Moreover also I gave them my Shabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahuah that sanctify them.

Sabbath is a sign between us and our Heavenly Father.

Ezekiel 20:20 (NIV) Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”

Ezekiel 20:20 (KJV) And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

Ezekiel 20:20 (Cepher) And hallow my Shabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Yahuah Elohaykem.

We have desecrated His Sabbaths

Ezekiel 22:8 (NIV) You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.

Ezekiel 22:8 (KJV) Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

Ezekiel 22:8 (Cepher) You have despised my holy things and have profaned my Shabbaths.

Priests (preachers?) shut their eyes to keeping of His Sabbaths

Ezekiel 22:26 (NIV) Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Ezekiel 22:26 (KJV) Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Ezekiel 22.26 (Cepher) Her priests violated my Torah and have profaned my holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they showed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes form my Shabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Temple door is to be opened on the Sabbath for our Prince – Pointing to Christ’s return and the FUTURE

Ezekiel 46:1 (NIV) “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The gate of the inner court facing east is to be shut on the six working days, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it is to be opened.

Ezekiel 46:1 (KJV) Thus saith the Lord God; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

Ezekiel 46:1 (Cepher) Thus says Adonai Yahuah; the gate of the inner courts that looks east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Shabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.

We are to worship in the presence of our Heavenly Father on the Sabbaths. This was pointing to FUTURE

Ezekiel 46:3 (NIV) On the Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are to worship in the presence of the Lord at the entrance of that gateway.

Ezekiel 46:3 (KJV) Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the Lord in the sabbaths and in the new moons.

Ezekiel 46:3 (Cepher) Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before Yahuah in the Shabbaths and in the New Moons.

Do not be excited for the Sabbath to be over to work again

Amos 8:5 (NIV) saying, “When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?”—
skimping on the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales,

Amos 8:5 (KJV) Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

Amos 8:5 (Cepher) Saying: When will the New Moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the sheqel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

Given over to ruin for following traditions of men – Sunday Sabbath is a tradition of man

Micah 6:16 (NIV) You have observed the statutes of Omri and all the practices of Ahab’s house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations.

Micah 6:16 (KJV) For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Micah 6:16 (Cepher) For the statutes of Omriy are kept, and all the works of the house of Ach’av, and ye walk in their counsels, that I should make you a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Sabbath in New Testament

Our Savior did not come to abolish the law. Not one stroke of the pen will disappear until heaven and earth have passed away. If anyone sets aside even the least of these commands will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever teaches these will be called great.

Matthew 5:17-20 (NIV) “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:17-20 (KJV) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:17-20 (Cepher) Think not that I am come to destroy the Torah, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For amein I say unto you: Till heaven and earth pass, one yod or one tittle shall in no wise pass form the Torah, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach me so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Keep the Sabbath and do good on it

Matthew 12:11-12 (NIV) He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Matthew 12:11-12 (KJV) And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

Matthew 12:11-12 (Cepher) And he said unto them: What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Shabbath, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is Lawful to do well on the Shabbaths.

If you want to enter life, keep the commandments

Matthew 19:17 (NIV) “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

Matthew 19:17 (KJV) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Matthew 19:17 (Cepher) And he said unto him: Why do you call me good?  There is none good but one, that is, Elohiym: but if you will enter into life, guard the commandments.

Do everything the teachers of the law and the Pharisees tell you to do.

Matthew 23:2-3 (NIV) “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

Matthew 23:2-3 (KJV) Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Matthew 23:2-3 (Cepher) Saying: the scribes and the Parashiym sit in Mosheh’s seat: They always say to you to observe that which they observe; but do ye not works in accord with their works; for they say, and do not do.

Follow the latter and the former law

Matthew 23:23-24 (NIV) “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Matthew 23:23-24 (KJV) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Matthew 23:23-24 (Cepher) Woe unto you, scribes and Parashiym, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin and have omitted the weightier matters of the Torah: Judgment, Mercy, and Faith: these out ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.” – If the Sabbath can be any day you choose, how would this passage make sense?

Matthew 24:20 (NIV) Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

Matthew 24:20 (KJV) But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

Matthew 24:20 (Cepher) But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Shabbath:

After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary visited the tomb. They both kept the Sabbath.

Matthew 28:1 (NIV) After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

Matthew 28:1 (KJV) In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Matthew 28:1 (Cepher) But after the close of the day, the Shabbath growing light into the first Sabbath, came Miryam of Mgdal and the other Miryam and beheld the sepulchre.

Our Savior taught in synagogues on Sabbath. Along with many other verses on this. It was His custom to do this

Mark 1:21 (NIV) They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

Mark 1:21 (KJV) And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

Mark 1:21 (Cepher) And they went into Kapharnachum; and straightway on the Shabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.

Talking about what is lawful to do on Sabbath

Mark 3:4 (NIV) Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

Mark 3:4 (KJV) And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Mark 3:4 (Cepher) And he said unto them: Is it Lawful to do good on the Shabbaths, or to do evil? To save life or to kill? But they held their peace.

They let go of commands of our Heavenly Father and were holding on to human traditions. Still happening today.

Mark 7:8 (NIV) You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

Mark 7:8 (KJV) For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Mark 7:8 (Cepher) For laying aside the commandment of Elohiym, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Those women who followed our Savior the closest rested on the Sabbath even after his death.

Luke 23:56 (NIV) Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

Luke 23:56 (KJV) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Luke 23:56 (Cepher) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Shabbath according to the commandment.

If we keep our Savior’s commands we love him and the Father loves us.

John 14:21 (NIV) Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

John 14:21 (KJV) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 14:21 (Cepher) He that has my commandments, and guards them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Whoever claims to live in him must live as our Savior did. – Our Savior kept the Sabbath day

1 John 2:5-6 (NIV) But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

1 John 2:5-6 (KJV) But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

1 John 2:5-6 (Cepher) But whoso guards his word, in him truly is the love of Elohiym perfected: hereby know we that are in him. He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

These are just a handful of scriptures on the Sabbath. We encourage you to study and search more on your own and always seek our Heavenly Father for wisdom as you read.
